Answer:

Explanation:

I don't know whether you are an Indian or where do you reside in India if an Indian. Assuming you to be living outside India I will give the broadest answer. Delhi is capital of India it has very rich history and vibrant culture. Since earliest times it has occupied an important position in the Indian history(barring times when Southern Indian states were more powerful or times when Agra was Capital). It is the home of Indian Central government and is home to all major institutions that are the foundation of Indian democracy. Let me take each one and then you can take up

1. History: Red Fort, Humayun's Tomb, Qutub Minar, India Gate, Old Fort, Jantar Mantar to name a few. Here is the detailed list List of Monuments of National Importance in Delhi

2. Important institutions: President's House, Parliament, Central Secretariat, South and North block Supreme Court, AIIMS, Army Airforce Headquarters,

3. Educational Institutes: IIT Delhi, Delhi University with colleges of national fame e.g. St Stephen's, Hindu, SRCC, Hansraj etc, NSIT, DTU, IP University, Amity, AIIMS, MAMC, Safdarjung, LHMC to name a few

4. Shopping/Markets: CP, Sarojini Nagar (remember the Saturday Saturday song), Karol Bagh, Old Delhi(remember Delhi 6 and Chandni Chowk to China), Lajpat nagar, Nehru Place to name a few . There are several markets specialized for different things along with malls

5. Culture: A vibrant and tolerant culture. Though there are certain areas with concentration or same ethno religious groups however, I dont think there are any kind of religious tensions. There is general concern around women safety. Numerous and frequent rape incidents are clear pointer towards that. Eve teasing is something that I have been told from my female friends have accepted as a sad part of life which they can't fight all the time. In Delhi you should bargain for everything, don't feel ever ashamed of it, except may be in malls.

6. Entertainment: NSD, numerous movie theaters, various cultural events keep on happening all through out the year with both paid and free. There are lot of art galleries around Hauz Khas Village area. There are lot for Sports too, Feerozshah Kotla, Jawaharlal Nehru, Major Dhyanchand Stadium, Shivaji Stadium. On a lighter note it is not without coincidence Delhi is home to head office or major studios of major news channels

7. Transport Hub: Delhi Metro, Node for all places through train bus and flights. Despite of having finest infrastructure and public transport, delhi has highest no. of vehicles in entire India. Roads are ridden with jams almost throughout the day.

8. Politics: Though small it is where the national level politics take places. All MPs have their residence here. All national major political parties have offices here. President and PM and all other major institutions head live here. Delhi as a state in itself has never been significant(this is my reading, we may debate over this) except last two elections when it led the change by propelling AAP to power against the full force of PM Modi.

9. Religion:

Temples: Akshardham(either in Delhi or very close to border), LakshmiNarayan Temple, Hanuman Temple in CP, Jhandewalan, Chattarpur Temples. There is a vibrant Durga Puja celebration along with all other festivals. Delhi Diwali celebrations are very famous

Gurudwaras: Golden Temple, Nanak Piao, Sees Ganj etc

Mosques: Jama Masjid(India's largest Mosque), Nizamuddin Durgah

Church: Cathedral of Sacred Heart       all                                                     these reasons make Delhi the tourist hub and a melting pot.
