ax + 3y = (a - 3),

12x + ay = a has no solution.

A pair of linear equations represented by a x + b y + c = 0 and a x + b y + c = 0 has no solution, if a /a = b /b ≠ c /c .
⇒ a/12 = 3/a ≠ (a - 3)/a a/12 = 3/a
and 3/a ≠ (a - 3)/a
⇒ a = 36 and a - 6a ≠ 0
⇒ a = ± 6 and a = 0, 6

Therefore, the given system of equations has no solution for a = -6.

purvanshi1234: what is the value of b
NabasishGogoi: that's the simple format of a quadratic eqn.
NabasishGogoi: i used that just for representation.
NabasishGogoi: b can be any no.
NabasishGogoi: or constant you may say.
purvanshi1234: ok
purvanshi1234: thanx
NabasishGogoi: sorry not quadratic but for linear.
NabasishGogoi: and you're welcome!
