p(x) = x^2 - x - (2k + 2)

x = -4

p(-4) = (-4)^2 + 4 - 2k - 2

= 16 + 4 - 2 - 2k

18 - 2k = 0

2k = 18

k = 18/2

k = 9

Therefore, the value of k in the polynomial

x^2 - x - (2k + 2) where x = -4
