Answer:

Comparing both the equations with a1x^2+b1x+c1=0 and a2x^2+b2x+c2=0,

a1=1, a2=k-1, b1=2, b2=k+1, c1= -3, c2= -(k+2)

As the pair of linear equation have no solution,

a1/a2=b1/b2≠c1/c2

=> 1/(k-1) = 2/(k+1) ≠ -3/-(k+2)

=> k+1 = 2(k-1)

=> k+1 = 2k-2

=> k=3

Also,

1/(k-1) ≠ 3/(k+2)

=> k+2 ≠ 3(k-1)

=> k+2 ≠ 3k-3

=> 2k≠5

=> k≠5/2
