For what value of ‘k’ will the following system of linear equations have no solution? 3x + y = 1, (2k – 1)x + (k – 1)y = 2k + 1

if x =1

3x + y = 1

3(1)+y=1

y=1-3

y=-2 Ans

(2k – 1)x + (k – 1)y = 2k + 1

(2k-1)(1)+ (k-1)(-2)=2k+1

2k-1 -2k+1-1=2k

-1=2k

k=-1/2 Ans
