D=b^2 -4ac

D=-20^2 -4(4)(K)

D=400 - 16k

16k=400

k=25

Answer:

The value of k is 25

But ,actually it is not confirmed from your question whether the roots are real and equal or not. So I think the roots are real and equal. So, according to it I have solved.

Step-by-step explanation:

Comparing the given equation with ax²+ bx+c = 0

a =4 b= -20 c= k

The roots are real and equal

b²-4ac = 0

(-20)² - 4(4)(k)=0

400 -16k = 0

400= 16k

k = 400/16

k = 100/4

k = 25

Therefore the value of k is 25.
