X = 1/3

step-by-step explanation:

Given,

quadratic equation :

3x^2 + 2x + X = 0

Here,

a = 3

b= 2

c = X

also,

the roots are real and equal

It means that the Descriminant (D) must be equal to zero,

=> D= 0

but weknow that,

D = b^2 -4ac

so,

b^2 - 4ac = 0

=> (2)^2 - 4 × (3) × (X) = 0

=> 4 - 12X = 0

=> 12X = 4

=> X = 4/12

=> X= 1/3
