We know that,

Mean =  \frac{Sum \:  of \:  all \:  observations }{Number \:  of \:  observations}

  • Number of observations = 5
  • Mean=17

Now,

17 =  \frac{x + x + 3 + 18 + 35 + 17}{5}

 \implies \: 17 \times 5 =  2x + 73

 \implies \: 85 = 2x + 73

 \implies \: 2x = 85 - 73

 \implies \: 2x = 12

 \implies \: x =  \frac{12}{2}

 \implies \: x = 6

  • Mean: Mean of a number of observations is the sum of all observations divided by the number of observations.

  • Mode: Mode of a data is the value of the observations that occur maximum number of times.

  • Median: Median is the value of a given number of observations which divides it into exactly two parts.
