for the lines to be parallel both the angles must be equal

so 7x-20=3x+20 ->4x=40°

x= 10°

"x\quad =\quad 10^{\circ}

Given:

Lines l and m be parallel.

To find:

The value of x.

Solution:

The angles must be equal in order to make the lines parallel.

Consider a line which is at a certain angle and another line is in some other angle in the same plane. Even when both the lines lie on the common plane, the angle decides their parallelism.

So, (7x - 20)° = (3x + 20)°

Since, they are corresponding angles.

7x - 3x = 20° + 20°

4x = 40°

x = 10°"
