Answer:

m = -4

Step-by-step explanation:

For what values of m roots of the quadratic equations will be same

1) x square - 10x + 11 = m -10

x² - 10x  + 11 = m -10

=> x² - 10x  + (21-m) = 0

To have equal roots D= 0

D = b² - 4ac  for ax² + bx + c = 0

=> (-10)² - 4(1)(21-m) = 0

=> 100 - 84 + 4m = 0

=> 16 + 4m = 0

=> 4 + m = 0

Dividing by 4 both side

=> m = -4

Verification

x² - 10x  + 11 = -4 -10

=> x² - 10x + 25 = 0

=>x² -5x - 5x + 25 = 0

=> (x-5)(x-5) = 0

=> x = 5 , 5   ( equal roots)
