${x}^{2} = 8x + 7$
=
$( { - 1}^{2} ) = 8 \times - 1 + 7$
= 1 = -8 +7
= 1 = -1
= 0 = 2

RHS
$8x + 7 \\ 8( - 1) + 7 \\ = - 8 + 7 \\ = - 1$
