x=2

so,

2x-8y=12

2(2)-8y=12. (put value of x)

4-8y=12

-8y=12-4. ( change the sign from + to - but don't change sign of 8y keep it -)

-8y=8

y=8/-8. ( take 8 to rhs but don't change negative sign)

y=1/-1. ( divide by 8 on numerator and denominator)

y=(-1)
