Fora material medium of refractive index -{3 , calculate the polaring angle for a beam
of unpolarised light incident on the interface separating this medium from vacuum.

Answer:

The relation between polarization angle θp and refractive index μ is given by

tan θp = μ

 

hence θp in this problem is tan-1√3 = 60º.

 

if incident angle is 60º then angle of refraction r is obtained from sin(r) = sin 60º / √3 = 1/2

 

hence angle of refraction is 30º
