Electrostatic force F between two similar charges q which are at distance d apart from each other is given by,
F = q2 / [ (4πε) d2 ] ......................(1)
where ε is permitivity of medium.
when medium remains same and distance d is not altered, then force F is directly proportional to square of charges.
Hence we write , F = C×q2 ..................(2)
where C is constant.
if 50% of charge of one sphere is transfered to other sphere,
then modified force F ' = C (0.5q)×(1.5q) = C 0.75q2 .......................(3)
from (2) and (3), we get F ' = 0.75 F
