to prove that the quantity is vector it has a particular direction and have magnitude

force have both direction as well as magnitude

for example in the above picture 10N force applied on the east direction

in this 10 is magnet and east is direction

Force is a vector quantity because it has magnitude as well as direction.

Characteristics of force are listed below:

1) Force can change the shape of an object, it can change the direction of an object.

2)Force can bring the change in the motion of a body.

3)If two forces are applied in the same direction they will add up, and if two forces are directed in opposite direction then the net force is the difference of the two forces.

This means that the force can be vectorically added.
