Answer: Consider an example of a car with discharged

battery which is being pushed on a straight road.

To start the engine, it needs to be imported

a velocity of 1ms−1

. When a sudden push is

applied, it hardly starts. But if it is continuously

pushed over sometime, it accelerates gradually.

This means the change in its momentum is not

only determined by magnitude of force, but also

by the time for which the force is exerted on it.
