By the end of the 15th century, European traders started doing trade and around mid-18th century they became a political force in India marking the end of medieval period.
The Hindus needless to say formed the greater majority of the population. The upper classes of the Hindu belonged mostly to the Brahman, Kayastha, Rajputs and the Vaishya caste. The Muslims too were divided.
