Here is your answer ----

• Let the number be x in each case.

a. 8x + 13 = 67

=> 8x = 67 - 13

=> 8x = 54

=> x = 54/8

=> x = 6.75

b. (x - 20)/4 = 40

=> x - 20 = 40 × 4

=> x - 20 = 160

=> x = 160 + 20

=> x = 180

c. (40 + x)/2 = 80

=> 40 + x = 80 × 2

=> 40 + x = 160

=> x = 160 - 40

=> x = 120
