Formation

They are formed when a metal & a non metal bond together by a metal losing its electrons and the non metal gains those electrons to have a full outer shell.

Properties

they have mainly 3 properties :

  • they conduct electricity when dissolved in water or molten.
  • they dissolve only in water but not in organic compounds.
  • they have high melting & boiling points

Answer:

here is your answer beautiful mate

Explanation:

formation :- Ionic bonding is the complete transfer of valence electron(s) between atoms. It is a type of chemical bond that generates two oppositely charged ions. In ionic bonds, the metal loses electrons to become a positively charged cation, whereas the nonmetal accepts those electrons to become a negatively charged anion.

properties :-the main properties of ionic compounds

(1) They form crystals. ...

(2) They have higher enthalpies of fusion and vaporization than molecular compounds.

(3) They are hard.

(4) They are brittle.

(5)They have high melting points and also high boiling points.

(6)They conduct electricity but only when they are dissolved in water.
