Ionic compounds are formed by losing or gaining of electrons between 2 elements .

Properties -

1) They have high melting and boiling points since the bond between them is quite strong. It doesn't break easily.
2) They conduct electricity in molten state.
3) They form crystals when heated.
4) They are hard and brittle
5) They have higher latent heat of fusion and vaporization.

Covalent compounds are formed when 2 elements share their electrons.

Properties -

1) Low melting and boiling point.
2) They are very soft and easily breakable.
3) They don't conduct electricity.
4) They can easily catch fire.
5) They don't dissolve in water but can dissolve in organic solvents.

Hope This Helps You!
