Formation of a solution from two components can be considered as :
(i) Pure solvent → separated solvent molecules, ΔH1
(ii) Pure solvent → separated solvent molecules, ΔH2
(iii) Separated solvent and solute molecules → solution, ΔH3

Answer:

Explanation:

A solvent that has the ability of a substance to dissolve another substance within and is determined by the molecular structure compatibility is known as a pure solvent.

The heat of solution is defined as the total amount of heat evolved or absorbed when one mole of an element or a substance is dissolved in excess of the solvent. Thus, for a hydrated salt and for salts that do not form hydrates, the ΔH is always positive and for anhydrous salts, it is always negative.

Thus, the solution formed will be - ΔH soln = ΔH1 + ΔH2 + ΔH3

and the solution so formed will be ideal if Pure solvent → separated solvent molecules, ΔH1.
