To form cations, metals lose electrons and to loose electrons energy is required hence it is endothermic

To form anions, non-metals loose electrons and thus heat is liberated and hence exothermic

{\huge{\boxed{\mathbf{\red{♡ANSWER♡}}}}}

  • .Absorption of energy in the formation of cation .
  • So it is endothermic x -----> {x^+} +{e^-}.
  • Loss of energy in the formation of anion.
  • So it is exothermic .x+{e^-}---->{x^-}.
