HLO THERE UR ANSWER IS...

Coral reefs begin to form when free-swimming coral larvae attach to submerged rocks or other hard surfaces along the edges of islands or continents. As the corals grow and expand, reefs take on one of three major characteristic structures —fringing, barrier or atoll.

A coral reef is made of thin layers of calcium carbonate. Coral polyps form a living mat over a calcium carbonate skeleton. Stony corals (or scleractinians) are the corals primarily responsible for laying the foundations of, and building up, reef structures.

Here is ur answer
⏬⏬⏬⏬⏬⏬⏬

❇▶These are formed by the precipitation reaction. Exactly the corals from a group or colony in some duration of time. Then they die and again next corals are formed over it so they form layer by layer structure. This layer can give an idea about the rain fall , salinity temperature profile. As the formation of these depends on these factors. They can also be dated by different techniques by measuring it radioactive carbon-14 isotopes (carbon dating). These corals contains mostly carbonates of calcium, Magnesium and strontium etc. when it contains some impurities they become coloured.
