Formation of Greatest and Smallest Numbers
Rules
a) Repetition of digits not allowed.
To write the greatest number start with the greatest digit on the left-most place
and then write the other digits in descending order.
To write the smallest number start with the smallest digit on the leftmost place
and then write the other digits in ascending order.
eg. :- using the digits 4,1,3,0,7,6
greatest number is 764310
smallest number is 103467
Note: 0 is never written on the leftmost place.
b) Repetition of digits allowed.
For writing the greatest number, the greatest digit is repeated on the leftmost
places. We start writing from ones place and write the smallest given digit and
then other digits is ascending order.
For writing the smallest number, the greatest digit is written in ones place and
the smallest number is repeated on the leftmost places.
eg. :- using the digit 1,8,3,0,4
greatest 6 digit no is 884310
smallest 6 digit no is 100348
Note: If 0 is given, then 0 is repeated on the places just before the last place.
