a) acceleration during 1st 4 sec

= 1/2 × base × height

= 1/2 × 4 × 6

= 2 × 6

= 12 m/s²

b) acceleration during second period of 4 sec i.e. 4 to 8 sec

= Area of rectangle

= length × breadth

= (8-4) × 6

= 4 × 6

= 24 m/s²

c) Deceleration during final 12 sec i.e. 8 to 20 sec

= -area of triangle ( as speed is decreasing negative sign is used)

=- 1/2 × base × height

=- 1/2 × (20-8) × 6

= -12 × 3

=- 36 m/s²
