Mid-value in basic terms is the average value of the lower and upper limits of various class intervals in  data set.

Explanation:

In a class interval of the data set,the lower limit is the lowest value of the class and alternatively,the upper limit denotes the highest value within the class interval and the mid value shows the average value of these two value.

Hence,mid-value can be represented by the following formula:-

\frac{lower limit+upper limit}{2}

Notice,it indicates the average of the lower and upper limit of any class interval within the data set.
