mass of i mole = molecular mass

Given

mass of 0.0242 moles of the acid = 1.657 g
mass of 1 mole of acid = molecular mass of acid = 1.657/0.0242 = 68.47 g

molecular mass of HXO2 = 1 + x + 32 = 68.47
                  x = 68.47 -33 = 35.47
Atomic mass of x = 35.47 is chlorine

Formula of the acid is HClO2

Answer:

Explanation

mass of i mole = molecular mass

Given

mass of 0.0242 moles of the acid = 1.657 g

mass of 1 mole of acid = molecular mass of acid = 1.657/0.0242 = 68.47 g

molecular mass of HXO

2

= 1 + x + 32 = 68.47

x = 68.47 -33 = 35.47

Atomic mass of x = 35.47 is chlorine

Formula of the acid is HClO
