Retardation or deceleration is negative change in velocity per unit time. So, Here, retardation=change in velocity/time(seconds). Retardation= -acceleration.

Answer:-

1) Formula of retardation:-

a = (v - u)/t

where,

a = Retardation,

v = Final velocity,

u = Initial velocity &

t = Time.

[Since retardation is also a form of acceleration.]

2) Definition of retardation:-

Acceleration where the final velocity would be less than the initial one. Or, we can simply tell it as 'negetive acceleration' or 'deceleration'.
