Square Root Formula

square root of a number is a value which when multiplied by itself to give the original number. It is represented by a √ symbol. It is also called as radical symbol. Although the principal square root of a positive number is only one of its two square roots, the designation "the square root" is often used to refer to the principal square root. For example, 4 and −4 are square roots of 16 because 42 = (−4)= 16.

To calculate a square root, first we need to find the factors of a given number. Now group the common factors together. If the factors have any perfect square then group them separately. The square root of the square of a number is the number itself. For example take a number 25. The factors of 25 is given as, 25 = 5 ×× 5. Now since it is a perfect square, its square root is 5.
