Answer:
Consider a body at "A" acted upon by the force "F" such that it gets displaced through a distance "S" in the direction of the force.
If "W" is the work done,
W is directly proportional to F
-------------(equation 1)
W is directly proportional to S
-------------(equation 2)
Equating (1) and (2), we get
W is directly proportional to F × S
W = k × F × S ------------(equation 3)
Where k is the constant of proportionally.
If a body is acted upon by a unit force, which causes a unit displacement, such that work done is also one unit, then
1 = k × 1 × 1
=> k = 1
Putting the value of k in equation 3.
This is the formula which shows relationship between work,force and energy.
Work done = Force × Displacement
W = F × S
