Answer:

Hypothesis-

If I put a half of an apple in plain water and the other one in lemon juice then the half of the lemon juice will not oxidize because lemon juice has more vitamin C and also reduce the pH value of the apple and makes oxidation difficult.

The apple slices turn brown.

  • When we cut an apple, oxygen enters the wounded plant tissue. Polyphenol oxidase (PPO) enzyme inside the chloroplasts efficiently oxidizes phenolic chemicals naturally found in apple tissues into o-quinones, a translucent precursor to brown-colored intermediates, when carbon is accessible in the cells.
  • Enzymatic browning causes apples to turn brown. Three items are required for this procedure:

       -Oxygen.

-An enzyme is broadly known as polyphenol oxidase (PPO).

-Polyphenols, also known as phenolic compounds. These are natural substances with at least one hydroxyl group (-OH) attached to the hydrocarbon ring (C6H5).
