four 20 ohm resistors are connected in series and the conbination is connected to a battery. what is the potential difference across any one of the resistors???

The internal resistance forms a potential divider with the load resistor. The total resistance is 5 Ohms and the load is s 4 Ohms, so the load has 4/5 of the EMF. 20*4/5 is 16V
Another view: The total resistance is 5 Ohms, the EMF is 20V so the current is 4A (Ohm’s law). The load is 4 Ohms and the current is 4A so it’s PD is 16V (Ohm’s law again)
