advantages
1) these have a good clay content hence high water holding capacity
2) they are red in colour due to presence of high amount of red oxygen
3) these are light and porous
disadvantage
1) the soil is formed by leaching therefore less mineral and organic content
2) they are not fertile at all
3) they are acidic in nature as alkalis are leached

Advantages:

1. They are are light and porous, and useful in growth of tea coffee cashews etc.

2. They have high clay content, hence better water holding capacity.

3. ️They are red in colour due to the presence of large amounts of iron oxide .

4. Used for construction purposes.


Disadvantages :

1. These Soils are formed by leaching , therefore consists of less minerals and organic materials .

2. They are acidic in nature.

3. They are very poor fertile .

4. They have high clay content and lower cation exchange capacity.
