Question :

Four angles of a quadrileteral

are in the ratio 3:5:6:6. Find their measure.

Solution :

Let the constant be z.

Ratio given = 3:5:6:6

==> 3z + 5z + 6z + 6z = 360° (All the angles in a quadrilateral add upto to 360°)

==> 20z = 360°

==> z = 360°/20

==> z = 18

Therefore, 3z = 3(18°) = 54°

5z = 5(18°) = 90°

6z = 6(18°) = 108°

6z = 6(18°) = 108°

In a quadilateral the angles add up to 360°

Let's call the angles 3x,4x,5xand6x

Then:

3x+4x+5x+6x=360→

18x=360→x=20

Then the angles are 60°,80°,100°and120°

(because 3⋅20=60 etc)

Check: 60+80+100+120=360.
