Four beakers were taken and marked A, B, C and D respectively. 200 ml of solution of Al,(So,), in water, CaSo, in water, FeSO, in water and CuSO, in water was filled in the beakers A, B, C and D respectively. Clean piece of metal zinc was placed in each solution and kept undisturbed for two hours.

(1) What color change would you observe in beaker D? (ii) Arrange the metal Zn, Al, Ca, Fe, and Cu in the order of decreasing reactivity.

Answer:

1.ans There will be colour change in beaker D as zinc is more reactive than copper will displace copper in its solution.

The colour will become red as powdery red mass of copper will be settled down in the beaker .

2.ans Ca >Al>Zn>Fe>Cu

because - Calcium is more reactive than aluminium , zinc , iron and copper .

Aluminium is more reactive than zinc , iron and copper .

Zinc is more reactive than iron and copper

Iron is more reactive than copper

Copper is the least reactive metal in the followings .
