Given : Four concurrent forces10 kN, 20kN, 30kN and 40kN acting at an angle of 20°, 63°, 95°,150° from positive x axis.

To Find :  their resultant in kN

Solution:

Horizontal forces

= 10 cos20° + 20 cos63°+ 30cos95° + 40cos150°

= 9.397 + 9.08  - 2.615  - 34.641

= -18.779  kN

Vertical forces

= 10 sin20° + 20 sin63°+ 30sin95° + 40sin150°

= 3.42 + 17.82  + 29.886 +20

= 71.126 kN

resultant in kN.  = √(-18.779)² +(71.126)²

= 73.563 kN

their resultant in kN. = 73.563
