Four cubes each of side 3 cm are joined end to end .find the surface area of the resulting cuboid

Hi ,

Each side of the cube ( a ) = 3cm

If 4 cubes are joined end to end

then the new solid so formed is

a cuboid ,

Dimensions bof the cubiod is ,

length ( l ) = 4a = 4 × 3 = 12 cm

Breadth ( b ) = a = 3 cm

Height ( h ) = a = 3 cm

Surface Area of the cuboid

= 2 ( lb + bh + lh )

= 2 [ 12 × 3 + 3 × 3 + 12 × 3 ]

= 2 [ 36 + 9 + 36 ]

= 2 × 81

= 162 square cm
