area of the four circles =4πr^2

radius = 3.5

area = 4×22/7×3.5×3.5

= 4×11×3.5

=. 154

area of the four quadrants = area of a circle

area =22/7×3.5×3.5

=38.5

area of the shaded region equals to the area of the four circles minus area of 4quadrants

=154-38.5

=115.5
