Four friends-Piya, Ishaan, Nihar and Mahek
are stranded in a forest. The only way to safety is
a rickety bridge across a river. It is pitch dark and
they have only one torch. No more than two persons
can use the bridge at a time. How can they all get
across in 17 minutes if Piya can cross the bridge in
one minute, Ishaan in two minutes, Nihar in five
minutes and Mahek, in ten minutes?​

Piya and Ishaan will cross the bridge together in 2 minutes as Ishaan takes 2 minutes.

now priya will come back with the torch and now Nihar and Mahek will cross the bridge in 10 minutes as nihaar takes 10 minutes now Ishaan who is standing on the other side of the bridge will take the torch and return back to priya and now both of them will cross the bridge in 2 minutes .

Total Time taken - 2(Ishaan and priya cross) + 2(Priya returning back) + 10(Nihaar and Mahek cross) + 1(Ishaan returning) + 2( Priya and Ishaan again crossing the bridge) = 17 minutes

Look you will think that why are they returning back ??

The reason is they have only one torch and they can't cross the bridge without torch..
