The order shows the friends' times from fastest to slowest - Evan Liza Tasha Devon

GIVEN:

Time taken by-

  • Evan - 6.2sec
  • Devon - 6.0999sec
  • Liza- 6.188 sec
  • Tasha- 6.168sec.

TO FIND:

Order showing friends' time from fastest to slowest.

SOLUTION:

To arrange the time value from fastest to slowest (in descending order.) we will follow the following steps-

To arrange in descending order- we need to look at the digits from left to right.

The whole number in all the numbers is common = 6.

Now we will look at the tenth place - 6.2, 6.0999, 6.188, 6.168

Digit with tenth place, 2 > 1

So, the biggest number = is 6.2

And, the second biggest number is either 6.188 or 6.168. (As they have the same digit in tenth place)

Comparing the digit in hundredth place between 6.168 and 6.188.

Since 8 > 6

so, the second biggest number - is 6.188.

and the third biggest number = 6.168.

Also, the remaining number - 6.0999 is the lowest.

So the descending order of time values can be written as -

6.2 > 6.188 > 6.168 > 6.0999

Friends' corresponding the orders -

Evan > Liza > Tasha > Devon.
