Answers
Four challenges faced by the Democratic Republic of Vietnam were
1. The French were trying their best to regain control of the lost territories of Vietnam.
2. During peace negotiations at Geneva after the war with the French, Vietnam was divided into North and South Vietnam. While the communists had the control of the North Vietnam, Bao Dai ruled South Vietnam.
3. This division of Vietnam turned Vietnam into a battle field where many groups and political parties were fighting against each other to capture power. For example, Ngo Dinh Diem overthrew Bao Dai and established a reign of terror in South Vietnam.
4. When communists began to gain grounds in Vietnam, the USA entered into the country with an aim of overthrowing the communist regime. This marked the beginning of Vietnam’s war with USA in which millions of Vietnamese lost their lives.
