✡[Question: ]

Four points of difference between properties of nitrogen and other elements of Group 15! (There is a little Bit of correction in your question mate! )

[Answer!!]

☣Nitrogen

⚛Nitrogen exist as diatomic gas as N2 in the elemental state, Hence it is also known as dinitrogen.

These are some of the properties which make Nitrogen different from other Element  of Group 15!!

  • Nitrogen exist as  diatomic gas while other exist as Tetraatomic solid molecules.

  • Nitrogen shows less Catenating  property then  phosphorus.

  • It is an inert and an unreactive gas  in elemental state where as other are highly reactive.

  • Due to absence of D orbital in its valence shell cannot form Pπ-Pπ multiple bonds, where as others can do so.

  • Due to Small size and high Electronegativity, Nitrogen forms a  tri negative ion. This Tendency is less in Phosphorus and absent in others.

  • Does not form pentahalide whereas Phosphorus,Arsenic and Antimony form pentahalides

Answer

1) Nitrogen molecule is diatomic, whereas other elements form tetraatomic molecules. ...

2) Catenation property is more pronouncedly shown by nitrogen than the other elements of group 15.

3) Nitrogen is in the gaseous state, while the others are in the solid state at room temperature.

4) Hydride of nitrogen is stable, while the hydrides of other elements are not stable.
