Your fathers age =5x
According to question the ages were 4 years ago then after four years means present is 8 years
(x+5x)+8=50
Note (x+5x)+8 is sum of present ages
6x+8=50
6x=50-8
6x=42
x=42/6=>x=7
Put the values in equation
(7+5*7)+8=50
7+35+8=50
50=50
Your father age is equal to 5x=5*7=35
Your fathers age =5x
