<b><i>Let Ramu's age be x

Let Rahim's age be 3x

Their age now = x + 4 and 3x + 4

Their age after two years = x + 4 + 2 = x + 6
And, 3x + 4 + 2 = 3x + 6

A/q,

3x + 6 = 2(x + 6)

3x + 6 = 2x + 12

3x - 2x = 12 - 6

x = 6

Ramu's age => x + 4 = 6 + 4 = 10 years

Rahim's age => 3x + 4 = 3 × 6 + 4 = 18 + 4 = 22 years

Define x:

Let the age of Ramu be x years old 4 years ago

Rahum = 3x

Express their current age in term of x:

Ramu = x + 4

Rahim = 3x + 4

Express their age in term of x 2 years later:

Ramu = x + 4 + 2 = x + 6

Rahim = 3x + 4 + 2 = 3x + 6

Form equation and solve x:

Rahim's age will be double

3x + 6  = 2(x + 6)

3x + 6 = 2x + 12

x = 6

Find their current age:

Ramu = x + 4 = 6 + 4 = 10

Rahim = 3x + 4 = 3(6) + 4 = 22

Answer: Ramu is 10 years old and Rahim is 22 years old
