Four years ago Raju's age was , x-4.

So, From the question
8(x-4) = y-4
8x - 32 = y -4
8x - 32+ 4 = y

So, From the question
After 6 years, his age will be 3 times Raju’s age , i.e

3x - y +12 =0 (2)
On solving (1) and (2) ,by elimination method
3x - y + 12 =0
-8x + y +28 = 0
-5x + 40 =0
