And age of son be y

After four years

Age of father will be x+4

Age of son will be y+4

According to the question

x+4 = 3(y+4) - 8

⇒ x+4 = 3y + 12 - 8

⇒ x+4 = 3y + 4

⇒ x+4 - 4 = 3y

⇒ x = 3y

Given that son`s age = 10 yrs

⇒ y = 10

Father`s age = x = 3y 

⇒ x = 3 ×10

∴ x = 30

∴ Age of father = 30 years
