When Tipu refused to surrender his kingdom, Lord Wellesley declared war against him.
British managed to gather a huge army of 50,000 soldiers with help of Marathas and Nizam of Hyderabad. This outnumbered Tipu's army of 30,000 soldiers.
British made a surprise attack on Tipu so that he could not get military help from France or any other country.
This led to the defeat of Tipu Sultan.
