The loyalty of dogs is unmatched and deeply moving, so is the real-life story of a dog named Hachiko owned by a Japanese University professor Eizaburo Ueno who lived in the town of Shibuya. Every afternoon, Hachiko waited at the railway station for Mr. Ueno to return back home from work.

One fine day, Hachiko waited at the station as usual for his owner, but Mr.Ueno was already reported to have died from a cardiac arrest during his lecture at the university. Poor Hachiko patiently waited for days hoping for his master to return. This wait continued for years together under the rain and snowfall and drew the attention of the world.

Honoring Hachiko's loyalty, the people of Shibuya erected a bronze statue of the dog in front of the Shibuya railway station. Hachiko had taken shelter under his own statue continuing his wait for his master until his last breath.
