To answer the given questions

EVALUATION

a) Four rupees more than five times the price of a burger.

Let the price of a burger = ₹ x

So the required algebraic expression

= ₹ ( 5x + 4 )

b) 6 multiplied by sum of a and b.

Here the given numbers are a and b

So the required algebraic expression

= 6(a + b)

c) The product of four and a number plus one.

Let the number = x

So the required algebraic expression

= 4( x + 1 )

d) 5 times a number divided by another number.

Let the numbers are x and y

So the required algebraic expression

= 5x/y

e) Thrice a number decreased by another number.

Let first number = x and second number = y

So the required algebraic expression

= 3x - y

h) Think of a number. Multiply it by 7. Add 5 to the result and subtract 35 from it. What do you get?

Let x be the number

Multiply it by 7 = 7x

Add 5 to the result = 7x + 5

Now subtract 35 from it = 7x + 5 - 35 = 7x - 30

So the required algebraic expression

= 7x - 30

i) Ravi gets a ₹x as pocket money from his father every month. What is his pocket money for a year?

1 year = 12 months

Ravi gets a ₹ x as pocket money from his father every month

So total amount in a year = ₹ 12x

So the required algebraic expression

= 12x

Solution a) :-

Four rupees more than five times the price of a burger.

Let price of burger is Rs.x

so,

→ Required algebraic expression = (5x + 4)

Solution b) :-

→ Required algebraic expression = 6(a + b)

Solution c) :-

Let the number be x .

then,

→ Required algebraic expression = 4(x + 1)

Solution d) :-

Let the number be x and y .

then,

→ Required algebraic expression = 5x ÷ y = (5x/y)

Solution e) :-

Let the number be x and y .

then,

→ Required algebraic expression = (3x - y)

Solution f) :-

Let initial length and breadth of the table are x inch and y inch .

then,

→ Required algebraic expression for area after being cutting out 5 inch = (x - 5)(y - 5)

Solution g) :-

Total rows = n

Total cadets in each rows = 7

then,

→ Required algebraic expression for total cadets = 7 * n = 7n

Solution h) :-

Let the number be x .

then,

→ Required algebraic expression = (7x + 5) - 35 = (7x - 30)

Solution i) :-

Ravi's pocket money each month = Rs.x

then,

→ Required algebraic expression for his pocket money for a year (12 months) = 12 * x = Rs.12x

Solution j) :-

Total stamps john has = N

He gave to his sister = 12 stamps .

then,

→ Required algebraic expression for number of stamps john has now = (N - 12) stamps .
