1. A 12kW drilling machine is used to drill a hole in a metal block of mass 10 kg assuming that 75% power is lost in form of heat. Calculate the rise in temperature of the block in 2 minutes. Specific heat capacity of metal is 0.4 J/ g.K

2. According to the theory of specific heat of solid at very low temperature close to absolute zero, the specific heat of a solid varies with temperature 'T' as s=kT³, k is a constant and T is the temp. in Kelvin. Fund amount of heat energy required to raise temp. of 200g of the solid from 1 K to 4 K.

3. A sphere of aluminum of 0.47 kg placed for sufficient time in a vessel containing boiling water so that the sphere is at 100°C. It is then immediately transferred to 0.14 kg copper calorimeter containing the 250 gm of water at 20°C. The temp. of water rises and attains a steady state at 23°C. Calculate specific heat capacity of aluminum if specific heat capacity of copper is 3.86 × 10² J/kg °C.

Try these. Anyway I have doubt in the solution of number 2. If you can do it, do tell me please. Thank you. ☺
